Believing in the future outlook and development potential of virtual reality (VR) games, Taiwanese company Soft-World Group announced on September 22, 2016 that it has signed a technology cooperation agreement with South Korea-based VROTEIN, which is the first VR software developer to receive an investment from Samsung. Through its subsidiaries, Chinesegamer International Corp. and Zealot Digital International, Soft-World will work in close cooperation with VROTEIN to combine Taiwan’s IP and art and planning capabilities with Korea’s technologies. The move aims to go all out to connect with global technologies and speed up the deployment in the VR game market. The products jointly developed by both parties will have the opportunity to cooperate with international-class VR hardware equipment pioneers such as HTC. Soft-World Group is committed to continuously enhancing development capabilities and bringing Taiwan’s digital content quality to higher levels. In addition, it hopes to integrate hardware equipment providers and publishing platforms in the future, offer excellent Taiwan-made games to the entire world and give full play to the strengths of Taiwan’s software and hardware.
Soft-World Group has been dedicated to the digital content industry for many years. It has cultivated numerous art talents for various games, ranging from standalone computer games in early times to online games and mobile phone games. The company possesses Taiwan’s largest game art team and the highest amount of game IP resources in the Chinese-speaking regions. In the past, the VROTEIN team has been engaged in the development of well-known online games such as “Ragnarok Online”, “Legend of Mir” and “Lineage II”. Also, in recent years the team has taken the lead in developing VR technologies in the industry and launched the escape room adventure game “TRESPASS”. Having accumulated solid game development capability in the past 10-plus years, VROTEIN is well recognized in the market. Soft-World believes that this cooperation would activate two-way VR technology learning and introduction between Taiwan and Korea, facilitate the creation of sophisticated and high-quality VR game content, and bring global players a whole new gaming style in the future.
