Another year for Zongzi festival is here. A traditional but recent become official holiday- Dragon Boat Festival. Falls every year on the 5th day of the 5th month in the lunar calendar, which is also different day every year. This year is the 18th of June.

Among many traditional customs, one of the things that People celebrate this day is eating Zongzi, which is glutinous rice with rich ingredients, wrapped by bamboo leaves. Another famous activity is Dragon Boat Racing, according to one of the legend, it is said after the poet Qu Yuan drowned himself in the river on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, local people paddled the boat to disperse fishes so that Qu Yuan's body would not be eaten. Ever since then, dragon boat racing is not only the traditional but has become the international sport event.

Thus, the Chinese name of this festival is called DuanWu Festival, and yet the term of Dragon Boat Festival has become well-known in the West.
