Suddenly, everyone seems to be getting into the business of bouncing, jousting, climbing and engaging in Ninja-like activities. Just weeks after a nationwide chain of indoor trampoline parks opened Get Air Erie in the East Grandview Plaza, Millcreek Mall and PDF Development LLC announced in the afternoon of Sept. 8 that Vertical Jump Park, a 31,000-square-foot facility, will move into the former Gander Mountain space. The new facility, which will include a 12,000-square-foot main jumping area, a rock climbing wall, dodge ball courts and a foam jousting pit, is expected to open in December. PDF Development already has introduced the concept in both Kentucky and Iowa.
Vertical Jump Park, a proposed 31,000-square-foot facility, will include a foam jousting pit.
“We’re thrilled to be bringing our special brand of entertainment to the Millcreek Mall Complex” said Brent Fortner, co-owner of Vertical Jump Park. “We are confident that people will enjoy it immensely. There’s nothing like it anywhere else in the area.” Get Air Sports, a Utah-based company that owns Get Air Erie, might argue that point. Scott Enterprises is also hoping to contend for that same business. In fact, Nick Scott Sr., president of the company, said earlier - before the Millcreek Mall located was announced - that his company planned to go ahead with its planned $10 million trampoline and adventure park that would face Interstate 90 in Summit Township. Scott said his proposed location, near Splash Lagoon Indoor Water Park, was in a better position to appeal to tourists visiting Erie. Scott hopes to start construction before the end of the year.
