A Visit to the Taipei Market — Exploring the Diversified Game Industry Landscape (II)

■ Asu Su
In the last issue of our magazine we introduced the game entertainment business landscape of Taipei’s Wufenpu in Songshan District and Ximenting as well as the electronic game industry dynamics and the electronic game arcade classification.  In this issue we will continue to take you to explore several different types of amusement establishments in Taipei.  In addition, GTI Asia Taipei Expo will soon take place on May 10-12 at Hall 1 of the Taipei World Trade Center and celebrate its 25th anniversary.  The precious isle, Taiwan, welcomes you to check out the exhibition, taste delicious food and enjoy beautiful scenery!

Taipei Living Mall
The Taipei Living Mall is a whole new vertical-based urban center type of shopping mall integrating tourism, leisure and shopping.  It includes an L-shaped building combined with a spherical building.  Created based on the design concept of “Double Dragons Holding a Pearl” from the ancient Chinese legend and touted as the largest spherical building in the world, Living Mall’s giant sphere has a diameter of 58 meters and the foundation depth is 85 meters.  The mall has a total of 19 levels with 12 levels above ground and 7 levels below ground (including 4 levels of parking areas).  15 floors of the mall are business areas and every three floors share a theme, so there are five different themes of shopping scenery.  With its focus on edutainment-oriented designs, Living Mall even put forward the concept of “no time barrier” so that consumers of all walks of life would not be deprived of the right to enjoy leisure time in their lives because of time constraints.

Austin Land
Jointly crafted by top design teams, Austin Land represents a perfect combination of hardware and software and a breakthrough against technical difficulties.  For example, the restaurant at the park is not a typical family restaurant, doing away with the existing form to let you walk into an artistic parent-child space rather than a commercial space.  Being inside this grandiose art work, you and your children are the essential elements.  Each child represents a different color and shape and the interaction between parents and children creates the perfect composition.  The space highlights simple lines and a bright and clean environment, and you are the main characters of the space!

The park features five major areas: “Star Aviation Terminal”, “Fantasy Rainforest”, “Poro Polar Zone”, “Desert Oasis”, and “Austin City”.  Every area offers abundant facilities with learning and gaming functions.  Shortening the distance between parents and children and creating a non-toxic and safe gaming environment is the goal of the park.  Here parents and children can embark on a magical journey to the wonderland.  The park also provides a nursing room and the dining & beverage area offers light meals.

Kidsburgh – The Little Mermaid’s Home
Kidsburgh has newly created the largest indoor children’s amusement park in Taiwan, “The Little Mermaid’s Home”, based on one of Hans Christian Andersen’s most beloved fairy tales, “The Little Mermaid”.  Spanning an area of about 1,982 square meters, this playground is full of enchanted glamour through undersea world paintings and can bring an unprecedented, magical experience to children.  The exclusively designed marine ecosystem aquarium presents mysterious marine ecology.  Furthermore, Kidsburgh has specially designed a series of marine themes-related courses and activities through its professional teaching team with an aim to let children learn through play and develop their learning and imagination skills.
