The city council and the Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota, are planning to move forward with the construction of a 250,000-square-foot water park at the shopping mall despite running into several setbacks. The mall has temporarily closed due to the coronavirus outbreak, while the city council waits for Arizona Industrial Development Authority to issue bonds of up to $300 million to finance the $260 million project, which could open in spring 2022. Work on the water park has also been postponed until this winter after the city council and Triple Five Group failed to reach an agreement regarding the fee the mall would receive for operating the park.
